Hair Growth Tips
So many companies have made millions on products that "grow" your hair and so many people swear by them. But, there are others who have tried it all and have no idea why they get poor results. Hair growth is like an equation, so you need all the variables to get great results. Before I give you this hair saving equation, let's go over some common hair growth myths:
The last and probably most important variable is taking care of your body. Drink enough water, eat balanced meals, and only take certain vitamins that your doctor says you need. Your hair is like a plant but your body is the root and when you get all of the factors in order, you will see your hair flourish. Until next time, stay natural, stay beautiful!
- "Don't cut your hair, it'll grow faster."
- "If you do scalp treatments, your hair will grow."
- "Don't wash your hair, it'll grow."
- "Wash your hair everyday, it'll grow faster."
- "Taking vitamins makes your hair grow."
You might have heard some of these before, and you'll notice that some even contradict each other. But, I've heard them all. Most people don't even need real evidence, once someone says "I heard...makes your hair grow," people are quick to try it. Hair growth is something most feel like they understand, but really don't. Overall, hair growth is fairly simple with the right puzzle pieces.
First and foremost, Trimming is something a lot of people are afraid of. But, it is essential when your ends are damaged. Holding on to dead ends won't make your hair any healthier. The longer they are left untrimmed, the higher they travel up the hair shaft and break. After you have trimmed, you need to start adding in moisture.
Whether you have oily hair or dry hair, all hair needs moisture. Your hair is like a plant and it needs water. The less moisture, the more dry it becomes and therefore, the more prone to breakage it is. No, oil is not moisture. Oil and water don't mix, but oil is great after you have already put your moisturizing products in to seal in the moisture and prevent frizz.
One thing people tend to do is not tend to their hair needs as soon as they spot them. Treatments should be a part of your weekly or biweekly routine. Moisture treatments should be done more frequently and protein/strengthening treatments should be monthly or every other month.
