Preventing frizz

Frizz is the common enemy that curly girls face on the daily. Especially here in Florida, where you can practically swim in the air. So here are some tips on keeping those gorgeous locks frizz free!

Wrapping your hair or changing your pillow case

A lot of people know they should wrap their hair at night, but don’t. It’s actually really important when it comes preventing frizz, breakage, and even keeping your hair moisturized. You should wrap your hair using satin or silk. You can use a scarf to wrap your hair or just wear a bonnet. Satin and silk are very “slippery” fabrics and they absorb minimal moisture. So that means no friction and therefore, no frizz. Try rubbing a cotton shirt on your hair and the try a silk one. You’ll see what I’m talking about. Most people complain they move too much to wear a scarf or bonnet and it always falls off. Switching your pillow case to satin or silk is another option.

Beware of the products you use

Make sure what you put in your hair will improve your hair over time. Most products say they’re anti-frizz, but then you read the ingredients and the first is alcohol which doesn’t sound like something that will prevent frizz. These products will make your hair feel amazing for a while but that alcohol will slowly dry out your hair and make it mor prone to frizz overtime. You’ll end up using more product and eventually buying more. It’s just a sneaky way to get you to become a repeat customer.  Make sure that the first ingredient in a product you want to buy is water and avoid those with heavy perfume scents, because those fragrances will dry out your hair just the same.

Overall, be kind to your hair and feed it all good things that will lead to healthy hair and no frizz. Until next time, stay natural, stay beautiful!
